Planting Guide and Helpful Resources

This guide is designed to help you to be successful planting anything from small perennials to large trees.
Step 1: Dig a hole twice as large as the width of the potted plant or tree, but no deeper than the pot. It is better to err on the side of being shallow than going too deep because the plant will sink over time.
Step 2: Mix 1/3 compost to 2/3 soil dug from the hole.
Step 3: Throw organic fertilizer (such as Microlife 8-4-6) in the hole before placing the plant/tree inside. Center the plant and fill in the hole with the compost/soil mixture. Do not stamp the soil down.
Step 4: Water in the plant/tree using a root stimulator such as liquid seaweed. Reapply the product again in 7 to 10 days.
Step 5: Spread 3-4 inches of mulch around the plant. For trees, keep mulch 3 inches -5 inches away from the trunk.
Step 6. Make sure to deep water while your plants are establishing. Sprinklers and other lawn irrigation isn’t enough. Hand watering or using soaker hoses will give you the best results.
