Organic Pest & Disease Control

Pests are inevitable when it comes to owning plants, but this shouldn’t deter you from having them in your home because pests are treatable! This guide goes into detail on what to apply to your plant depending on the pest.


Here is our THREE STEP process for identifying and treating garden problems:

1. Identify the problem/pest correctly.

2. Correct any conditions contributing to the problem.

3. Choose the least toxic strategy for addressing the problem/pest.


ORGANIC solutions for common garden problems are as follows:

APHIDS: Can vary in color, usually form in clusters.

Apply Ladybug Attractant
Spray Insecticidal Soap
Spray Horticultural Oils or Neem


BLACK SPOT:

Avoid watering on plant leaves, stay on soil
Spray Revitalize weekly
Drench with Plant Doctor


BLACK SOOTY MOLD:

Check plant for Aphids!

BLIGHT: (type of fungus)

Spray and/or Drench with Plant Doctor

BROWN PATCH:

Apply Horticultural Cornmeal

CATERPILLARS and WORMS:

CHIGGERS:

CHINCH BUGS:

Spray Spinosad
Spread Diatomaceous Earth


FIRE ANTS:

Apply Beneficial Nematodes
Apply Orange Oil 
Apply Come and Get It
Apply Dried Molasses


FLEAS:

Apply Beneficial Nematodes
Apply Diatomaceous Earth


FUNGAL LEAF SPOT:

Spray and/or Drench Plant Doctor
Spray Revitalize
Spread MicroGro Innoculant


GRUB WORMS:

Apply Beneficial Nematodes


LEAFMINERS:

Spray Spinosad


MEALY BUGS:

Spray Insecticidal Soap
Horticultural Oils, or Neem


MOSQUITOS:

Drop Mosquito Dunks or Bits into any standing water or wet areas of soil.
Repel with Cedar Repel, Skeeter Screen Products such as Patio Egg 
Can use plants like Citronella or Lemongrass


PILL BUGS (ROLY-POLIES):

Apply Sluggo Plus


POWDERY MILDEW & RUST:

Spray Revitalize


SCALE:

Spray Horticultural Oil or Neem


SNAILS & SLUGS:

Apply Sluggo Plus


SPIDER MITES:

Spray Horticultural Oil or Neem
Release Lacewings


STINK BUGS:

Dust plants with Diatomaceous Earth (DE)
Spray with Spinosad


SQUASH VINE BORERS:

Prevention is KEY! Inject vine with Bt, every 3 weeks or apply Dipel Dust at base of vine daily


TAKE -ALL PATCH:

Apply Horticultural Cornmeal
Spread MicroGro Innoculant
Spread MicroLife Brown Patch Fertilizer


THRIPS & WHITEFLIES:

Spray Neem weekly
Spray Insecticidal Soap weekly
