The Space

Garden Seventeen is a unique and special space, with a rich history that dates back many decades. The building, which was once an industrial site, was lovingly repurposed into a lush garden shop. The space has been carefully preserved, with attention paid to every detail, so that visitors can experience its beauty and history.

Today, Garden Seventeen stands as a testament to the power of imagination, hard work, and a love of nature, and is a place for all to come and experience the beauty of the natural world. Whether you are a seasoned gardener or simply looking for a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life, Garden Seventeen is the perfect place to connect with nature, relax, and find inspiration.

Our Building

Our unique building has a history of its own! It was once a part of the old Austin airport as an airplane hangar in the 1920s. It was then moved brick by brick to its current location on Airport & N Lamar. We know that in 1945 Rainhart Manufacturing took over the space and used it as a manufacturing and R&D facility for laboratory equipment until 2016. Garden Seventeen found it’s home here in 2020!

Our building was the winner of Preservation Austin’s 2022 Stewardship Award
